Got questions? We’ve got answers for you…

What exactly is a 'digital nomad'?

A digital nomad, also sometimes referred to as a remote professional or location independent professional, is someone who makes an income working from their laptop while living anywhere with a wifi connection. Imagine the original version of “working from home” taken to the next level. Digital nomads can live and work in various countries and locations throughout the year, wherever they desire or choose. Most digital nomads still typically work regular hours Monday-Friday from whichever location they’re in. A few of the most popular digital nomad locations are places such as Thailand, Mexico, Colombia, Portugal and more.

What jobs do digital nomads do?

A few of the most popular digital nomad careers are marketers, programmers, writers, and designers, just to name a few. However, these are just a couple of the most common careers. We’ve met lawyers, real estate professionals, accountants, consultants, analysts, publishers,  and even a brain surgeon who completed research while traveling. These days, the opportunities are endless.

Is it possible to have a professional career while traveling?

Absolutely! Many people believe that they must choose between their career development or travel. However, a digital nomad can continue to progress in their chosen career field the same way that they would while working from home or their office. The world has changed. With internet access and phone service throughout the world, you can continue to progress in your career while you work your business hours from whichever countries or locations you choose to live in or explore for the month.

How much money do digital nomads make?

Over 20% of digital nomads make a salary of $50,000 – $99,000 USD, while a reported 18% of digital nomads make more than $100,000.

Do I need a work visa for each country I visit?

Many people believe you must apply for a work visa to stay for an extended time in each country as a digital nomad. However, this is not usually necessary. While each government has different rules and regulations for how long you can legally stay in their country, you can typically visit for at least 30 days (if not more) in most countries if you enter on a tourist visa. As long as you are not receiving a paycheck in that country you are visiting, a working visa is not required.

How much does this lifestyle cost?

Just like at home, your monthly costs depend on the lifestyle that you choose to live. Digital nomads spend an average of $900 per month on the low end, to $1,750 per month on the higher end. Many digital nomads choose to live in countries where their money stretches further than it would at home, and find that living a life of travel is actually less expensive than their current life.

How can the GoRemote Employment course help me become a digital nomad?

With a combined 10 years of experience in career coaching, creating a community of over 900 digital nomads, and living ourselves as digital nomads, our course will give you all of the information you need to identify your ideal remote career path, get a remote job, and transition into this lifestyle. You won’t find this type of expertise or guidance anywhere else.
