Privacy Policy
Beach Commute is the job seeker’s tool — and that includes how we handle your data. This policy explains what we collect when you use beachcommute.com and the Beach Commute Atlas, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have.
01 Who we are
Beach Commute (“Beach Commute,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates beachcommute.com and the Beach Commute Atlas — a toolkit that helps people find legit, fully-remote jobs. This includes our curated job board, custom job alerts, Resume Optimizer, Application Tracker, Salary Coach, Vibe Check, and your personal dashboard (together, the “Services”).
Unlike a data broker, we collect personal information directly from you, as the person using our Services — to help you in your job search. We are the controller of that information. This policy describes how we treat it. If you don’t agree with it, please don’t use the Services.
02 Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information, depending on which parts of the Services you use:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account & contact information | Name, email address, and password when you create an account or subscribe to job alerts. |
| Job-search content you provide | Resume and profile details you upload to the Resume Optimizer; saved jobs, filters, and alert preferences; notes and statuses you add in the Application Tracker; job descriptions or listing URLs you submit to Vibe Check or other tools. |
| Subscription & billing information | Plan, subscription status, and billing records. Card payments are processed by our payment providers (Stripe and Samcart) — we do not store full card numbers. |
| Usage & device information | IP address, device and browser type, operating system, pages viewed, and interactions with the Services, collected automatically. |
| Approximate location | General location inferred from your IP address (e.g. for relevant job results). We do not collect precise GPS location. |
| Communications | Messages you send us, including support emails and survey responses. |
We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, financial account numbers, health information, or other sensitive categories of data. Please don’t include them in resumes or messages you submit.
03 How we collect it
- Directly from you — when you sign up, subscribe, upload a resume, use a tool, or contact us.
- Automatically — through cookies and similar technologies as you use the Services (see Cookies & Analytics).
- From service providers — for example, our payment processor confirms your subscription status, and our analytics providers report aggregated usage. We do not buy personal contact lists from third-party data brokers.
04 How we use it
We use your personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services and your account;
- Run the tools you ask for — optimize your resume against a listing, score a job with Vibe Check, track your applications, send the job alerts you signed up for;
- Personalize job recommendations and content to your preferences;
- Process subscriptions, billing, and customer support;
- Communicate with you about the Services, including service and (where permitted) marketing messages you can opt out of;
- Analyze and improve the Services and develop new features;
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Where required by law, we rely on a lawful basis to process your information — typically performance of our contract with you, your consent, or our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services.
05 Cookies & analytics
We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure performance, and understand how the Services are used. We use Google Analytics, Lovable, Supabase, Meta and Kit for analytics.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info, optout.networkadvertising.org, or youronlinechoices.com. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Services may not work properly.
06 When we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only in these circumstances:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — for example hosting and database (Supabase, Lovable, Kit), payments (Stripe and Samcart), email delivery (Kit), and analytics. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal & safety — to comply with a law, regulation, court order, or valid government request; to enforce our agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Beach Commute, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your direction or consent — when you ask us to share, or otherwise agree.
07 Sale & sharing for advertising
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising and analytics cookies may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and similar state laws, because those technologies can disclose identifiers and online activity to advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You have the right to opt out. To opt out, set your browser to send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, or email us at hello@beachcommute.com. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
08 How long we keep it
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, then for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. Data is retained in our database and never sold. If a user would like to delete their information, they may write in and we will do so within 30 days. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
09 Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
- Know / access — request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, and how we use and share it.
- Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Delete — ask us to delete information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Portability — receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Opt out of the “sharing” or “sale” of your information for advertising (see Section 07).
- Withdraw consent or unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny you services, charge a different price, or give you a lower quality of service for exercising these rights.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
How to exercise your rights
Email us at hello@beachcommute.com. We will verify your request — usually by confirming control of the email on your account — and respond within the time required by law (generally 45 days, extendable once where permitted). You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.
10 Security
We use industry-standard measures designed to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Help us protect your account by keeping your password confidential and not sharing it with anyone.
11 Children
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at hello@beachcommute.com and we will delete it.
12 International users
Beach Commute is operated from the United States, and we process and store information in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we’ll provide additional notice where required. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
